Custom Zowada with tons of pictures

I recently retired from the military after 22 years service. 12 years Army Infantry and 10 years Air Force Nursing with a break in the middle for college. A few months back I decided I would have a custom razor made to mark the occasion. Tim was great throughout the entire process. I love Damascus and mokume and had never seen a mokume inlay done before so after a few conversations with Tim and his fantastic craftsmanship here it is. 7/8 ths Damascus, Ivory one piece scales, a mosaic pin to balance the looks, and that beautiful mokume inlay. He made the mokume himself and the mosaic pin as well. I could not be happier. He sourced a beautifully colored and grained ivory for the scales. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

That's quite a razor! I have great admiration for TZ's work. I know you will always treasure that one.

Oh, wow. I've never seen a razor like that. Impressively precise design and craftsmanship.

Thank you to everyone!! The first shave was perfect! I was getting ready to go out of town and thought I would have to wait until my return to even see the razor. I was prepping my lather and had a freshly stropped Hart sitting at the ready when the doorbell rang. This razor went straight from the box to the strop to my face within minutes of being opened. I am very happy with its performance. A lot of little preferences went into the design. I enjoy shaving with 7/8 ths razors a bit more than others. Kind of like sports cars vs muscle cars. This is a 69 Camaro with a 427! The top and bottom jimps make control of the big blade effortless. It is a very slightly modified square point. I like the square point's ability to get into tight places, but never find an advantage to the sharp corner itself so had Tim very slightly round just the corner. It is a quarter hollow grind which again and again has proven to be my favorite. I chose mokume for the inlay because I love the look and I had never seen it done before. Then with so much flash on one end of the razor I thought the mosaic pin would balance the look. Tim was great!! We talked pins and he made two different ones for me to see so I could pick my favorite. The whole process was fantastic. It even led to my being able to get the 2H2H prototype you see in the last pictures. He suffered his motorcycle crash during the time he was making my razor and we talked about his 2H2H idea. I told him I definitely wanted a 2H2H and he was kind enough to offer me a chance to buy one of the prototypes. I jumped at the chance.
