Crystals the heir to the Gillette Spoiler?

Working through my WCS sample pack, I cracked open the pack of Crystals. There on the front is a patent number- 3071856.

It rang a bell in the back of my head- that old Spoiler blade I have from a '65 Tech. Sure enough, the same number. A Google Patent search turns up the fact that the patent was awarded to Gillette in 1963 as a new method of making razor blades.

Though the patent would have expired in 1959, 20 years post-application, it seems odd that this old patent is still referenced. Is there a known connection to Gillette?

That is the "Teflon Coating" patent. It seems that perhaps ASR and/or the Israeli/American firm that they bought cross-licensed this patent, perhaps in exchange for another one. This patent is on almost all the Gillette blades of the 70's- Thins, Blues, Super Blues, Spoiler. It shows they all were PTFE coated at that time....Gillette seems to have promptly removed this patent when it expired (around 1980?)......
