Comparo: Nivea vs. Neutrogena

After a 3rd ATG pass using KMF Cool Mint for a BBS shave, I covered half my face with Nivea Sensitive Post Shave Balm, and the other half with Neutrogena Razor Defense Post Shave Lotion.

The Nivea does not have much scent. The Neutrogena has a light "mandarin" scent that lasts for awhile but is not overly strong.

Initially, I felt no sting with the Nivea, and a slight burn with the Neutrogena. This may have resulted from a reaction with the KMF Cool Mint (although I washed my face with water before applying any balm).

Both moisturized well at first. The Neutrogena side of my face dried out pretty quickly, while the Nivea side stayed slightly "tacky" much longer. 30 minutes after my shave, the Nivea side feels soft. The Neutrogena side feels smooth but a little dry - almost like I applied some talc . I have normal skin.

In terms of fighting irritation, the Nivea side feels just a tad irritated. Nothing horrid, just noticeable. The Neutrogena side feels fairly normal.

In 4-packs on Amazon Prime, the Nivea costs $1.44 an ounce, and the Neutrogena costs $1.98 an ounce.

I'd recommend the Nivea Sensitive to men with normal to dry skin (especially in the winter) and for those who prefer their scent to come from their cologne. Neutrogena would work well for normal to oily skin (especially in the summer) and for those who don't mind a little scent in their aftershave.

I was a fan of the old Nivea Sensitive, but the new formula with Active Irritation System just doesn't work well with my face. Their regular stuff works okay, I just miss the old sensitive. =/

Hi everybody,

I think in my case the Neutrogena, caught better, I have very oily skin and do not use Balm rightfully so, if you use a portion would be minimal.
Thank you for the tip, is already in the list.

Thanks. I did not know there had been a reformulation. When did that happen?

About a year ago. The old stuff didn't have any fancy green dots on the label.

Is it this one? I've also seen something similar that does not have the words "Extra Soothing" on the bottle. Just "Sensitive Post Shave Balm"
