coffee relating to your shave quality.

When I bought a house, I started shaving before I had my coffee and toast. I noticed quickly my shaves were going to heck, even though I had the same water, only hotter.

As soon as I went back to coffee and toast BEFORE the shave, everything fell back into place.

I'm thinking the caffeine-induced, increased bloodflow causes my hairs to stand up better. Or, it has some other beneficial effect on my skin.

Your thoughts/experiences?

You probably shave better when fully awake.

To me this sounds more likely to be due to the prolonged state of wakeness rather than 'caffeine-induced'. It helps, though. The longer you are awake the more blood flows through you're beard area's skin.
Righter after sleep the skin hasn't as much been accommodated to being awake as after the time of breakfast.

Caffeine does increase your focus, so it's not a surprise that your shaves improved after coffee. It's when you have too much and you get jittery that it's a problem.

Try rubbing a little coffee directly into your beard before shaving to see if there are any positive effects.

lack of focus doesn't make the blade skip jump and cause irritation though :(

nevermind.

I've heard from several places (all of which slip my mind at the moment) that your face is slightly puffy for about 20-30 mins after you wake up. This is supposed to affect shave quality.

I guess I can believe it, since I always make a nice big breakfast on the weekends and shave afterwards. The quality is always much better. It's not just a time and alertness level thing, it honestly feels like my skin can handle it better.

I have a ton of caffeine pills left so I've been putting it in my soaps and bod wash. Lol trying to mimick those caffeiene soap products that are sold for a big mark up.

Can't say coffee before or after the shave improves the shave, but I've started bringing a cuppajoe up to the bathroom for the shave and it's definitely improved the experience. Before anyone asks, I drink it. ;-)

Coffee has little to no effect on me. I recently went a month without buying coffee, and my shaves, and state of being were just fine. I love the taste of coffee, but it does nothing for me. I have been known to drink several cups of coffee and go straight to bed and sleep like a rock.

Having said that, I know plenty of people coffee would have a big effect on.
