Choice for a first one

Hello , firstly excuse my english, cause i'm french....
I have the intention to buy a safety razor, and after reading many things i have 3 choices : Merkur 23c
Merkur HD
EJ DE86 or 89L

With gilette blades that i can found on my supermarket and monsavon barber soap.(i have not many money this time...)

Can you tell me wich one could be good for me ? if you have another brand or model....

I am a beginner as well. It was recommended that I start with the EJ DE86. I don't have anything to compare it to, but it is a great razor so far.

Ok, good for me, it's the lower price one an i like the black grip.
Wich blade do you use ? someone told me that the derby were good , non agressive.

Welcome to B&B. I started with the Merkur 23C and it is also a great razor. You will get a good shave from all the razors on your list. Blades are a matter of preference. buy a sample pack and see wich one works for you best. I use Derby and Sharks.

A lot of folks start with the Merkur HD. It's a good razor but I think I would recommend a Gillette Superspeed.

I have the 23c, HD, and EJ 89L.
Of those three, I'd go with the EJ. It would really be a great first razor.
Next I'd go with the 23c, it's mild, and really nice too.
The HD was my first razor. It's fine, but I haven't used it much since my collection grew.
Crystals are good mild blades too. Get a few feathers so you'll know what sharp is.

I'd also go with the EJ DE89L. The fit and finish are much better than the Merkurs I've handled and it gives wonderful shaves. The DE89L will always be part of my rotation.

If you are from France, you could buy from a shop in holland.
google for dutch barber shop
You could buy a EJ 89, 89L or Muhle R89 or R106
Also get some blades.

And there also is the uk banned vendor..
