I am now approx 1 month into my DE shaving experience and have had ups and downs. I got into this by accidnet on Amazon, saw an ad while on Amazon bought a Merkur 180 long handle and a 100 pack of Derby blades. I used this purchase for a few days the wrong way, signed up here for some advice and learned to shave the correct way. Along the way here on these forums I bought into all the fancy pre shave, post shave and every other kind of skin care imaginable. I would literally read here on the forums that so and so shave product was the greatest and there were plenty of posts to follow confirming what the author stated and would run out and buy that product. I also went crazy buying up all the razors I could find Gillette techs, adjustables, older type razors even 3 old Gem SE razors. So what I have now is a cart with close to $500.00 worth of shave materials. I would occasionally get a really great shave and even when the shave was not the best I was convinced it was still great becasue I was doing the manly thing by using such great products the only exception is my Clubman I do really enjoy the scent. What I realized tonight is that I brainwashed myself into believing any and evrything the elite here state is great which usually turned out to be not so great for me. Last night I read here in another thread that a friend used noxzema as a shave cream and had good results. Well me being the self brainwashed fool that I am ran over to CVS and bought their generic brand 2 huge tubs for $8.00, came home grabbed the Merkur 180 slapped a derby blade in put on a thin coat of CVS brand noxzema and for the first time got a real close shave without having to convince myself the shave was better than it actually was. I also saved a good 10 minutes by not having to prep, heat, lather and post shave. So for me simple is better no more razor rotation, no more shave shrine or shave den as it is called. My bathroom is now back to normal the shave shrine is gone just my Merkur and a tub of generic noxzema. This is in no way a negative shot at anyone here on the forums, I enjoy the company here and all of the various forums and have to say the mods here have been very understanding with my missteps in the beginning example posting links to live auctions and unauthorized trades ect. So this being said I would like to PIF (2) unused boxed tubes of C.O. Bigelow shave cream which I now have no use for CONUS only. (2) tubes (1) tube each to (2) members. Ill draw tonight at 10:00 p.m. and as an added bonus I will video the drawing and post the link in this thread just becasue I have recently discovered that I can make videos with my Iphone.
