What's new

cella user finally!

I adore cella, it's in my top 5 for sure. Using a wetter brush works well for me when loading. You will have many a fine shave with that red tub.

Just tried with a new omega boar. Had trouble lathering but up for the challenge. Cella scent with fresh boar was funky ha!

I tried Cella for the very first time today as well. It was PIF'd to me by a fine gentleman and fellow B&B member. I must admit that I loved my shave with Cella this morning.

The funny thing is, I tend to prefer fresh/menthol/citrus type soaps but Cella opened a new shaving product paradigm for me. It lathered up as easily as Proraso (white tub) does for me and the sweet almond smell was very pleasant.

It seems that I gravitate to Italian soft soaps (and women...). Have you tried any other Italian shave soaps? I'm wondering how Cella compares to products like Razorock.

I've yet to find anything that shaves better. I just wish it had a stronger scent.

I noticed that even though it had a significant scent out of the tub, I barely detected any scent while lathering. Not a deal breaker for me though. The shave was too enjoyable.

I probably use it 75% of the time. I just got some Razorock though, which may dethrone it. Shaves equally well, but smellier

Razorock King Louis Lavender (not sure of exact name of product) was recommended to me and I'm very tempted to order it. I'm desperately trying to control my product acquisition disorder...

I still have not got round to trying this one. I am still hesitant to buy it since on the one hand everyone seems to be raving about its performance, on the other hand I cannot stand the scent of almonds.

To my unrefined nose, the smell of Cella closely resembles Amaretto liqueur.

The scent is almost non-existent in lather form.

I stopped by the Merz Apothecary in Chicago last month (they have a branch at the Palmer House and I had a conference there) and smelled everything they had, and ended up with the Razorock Don Marco, which is Bergamot and something or other. It is my annual chance to actually smell stuff in the flesh.

I can never recall what Bergamot smells like...I'll have to "google it". I just ordered an Arko shave stick and a Tabac shave stick. I've never tried these products and feel obligated to give them a go based on the established shaving crowd. Both seem very polarizing when it comes to opinion, but in all likelihood, I'll probably like them because they reputedly provide excellent quality shaves.

Think orange popsicle and you've got Don Marco's scent. I highly recommend any of the soaps in the RR La Famiglia line.

Thank-you for your recommendation. I'll be ordering some RR when my self imposed purchase prohibition is repealed.

I love Cella. As stated a wetter brush works best. Don't shake all the water out of the brush, I give it one light shake just so the water isn't dripping from the brush. Then i swirl the brush lightly around the soap while I slowly count to 40-60. Then face lather. Lather drips all over but i love it. nice and slick, doesn't dry out on my face. and there is enough soap in the brush for a 2nd and 3rd pass which I usually dip the tip of the brush in water to rehydrate.

I use Cella 95% of the time.

In my experience, Arko shaves about equally well as Cella. I don't like Tabac at all. I don't care for the smell (which is fairly common), but I've also never had a good shave with it (which seems to put me in a pretty small minority). But it is one you definitely ought to try.

I agree, and I was wondering if I got some almond flavor extract and stirred it in, what would happen. It seems like Cella is soft enough that one could do that and get away with it.

Cella is easily my favorite so far. I keep having to force myself to use other products to use them up lol.

I may end up attempting to sell some very little used products (like 3 proraso tubes that have been used maybe 1-3 times each, affectively brand new). I just can't seem to push myself to using other products knowing that i end up with lesser quality shaves using them instead of Cella.

I want to try QCS creams though, I hear they're similar.

I've been trying to sample the different soaps that get rave reviews on B&B such as Tabac, Arko, Mystic Water, DRH Arlington, AOS Sandalwood, etc. All are fine soaps, but some are simply too much work compared to Cella and Proraso. I could use an old sock and get a great lather out of Cella and Proraso. I do use a broad variety but when time is of the essence, I have to resort to what gives me a great shave in a shorter time.

I used to use the "Marco Method" of lathering one of my favorite soaps. Of course... CELLA! I found that my lathers were inconsistant and i couldn't find the right soap to water ratio with different brushes. So i turned to how I use to lather when I first started wet shaving... Soak your brush while you take a hot shower, take your brush out and squeeze most all the water out to where you have a relatively damp brush (not dripping).. Swirl the brush around in your soap till a thick lather-like mixture appears on top of the soap and start face-lathering. Once your face is completely covered with soap (after about 30 seconds), dip the tips of your brush in water and spread the water evenly over your face and face lather again (for another 30 seconds - 1 minute) (may dip tips again if need be) until you have a nice rich lather! All the best to the new wet shavers. Cella is an excellent croap!
