Cella Question?

Alright....so I picked up some Cella to try. I took it for the first outing today. I am reserving judgment right now because I was varying the mix of soap/water more than I should have. I did find a pretty good combination the second time I mixed a batch today. However, it never did "explode" with later as I have heard. So I still may be a little off with it.

So, my question is. What amount of Cella do you find works the best to get the brush loaded well? In other words, how much do you "scoop out"? Any opinions on how you feel it needs water?

I am assuming the best way to use Cella is to scoop some out and mix in a bowl. Anyone else found a better way to lather it?

I will be testing Cella until I feel I have the hang of the right mix but just wanted to get some other thoughts on it. I don't want to make a judgment until I feel I have it mixed appropriately.

Thanks!

Sometimes its the brush. Some brushes are just too soft to work up some good lather. Or too small. My duke 2 in best is a dream with cella whereas my rooney 3/1 was a nightmare.

IMO Cella works the best loading it with your damp brush in it's bowl then face lather. It's too dense for an easy scoop into your lather bowl and will just swirl around in it because it doesn't break down very easy like normal creams.

The bowl can pose a problem because it is a little smaller opening and some brushes won't seem to be able to get enough soap on it. But I've used it with 26mm brushes and 20mm brushes and there isn't much problems. If your brush is too big just pinch the bristles together a bit to get it in there and not damage your brush.

Cella is an excellent soap so I hope you get to like it:001_smile

Not sure I understand what you mean by "scooping out." What I do is to take a wet brush (the same wetness I use for any other soap or cream) to Cella and give it a light swirl. I then take it to a bowl and mix up, adding water as needed. Perhaps you are not putting enough product on the brush.

Cella does have an usual consistency for a soap and, for me, I use more water than I do for some others.

Got ya...Thanks. That was part of my contemplation. I did notice it was a little difficult to break it down in the bowl. I was a little thrown off by the size of the Cella bowl for going direct with the brush but I will give it a try.

It does seem like it would be best to face lather. I just took a stab at how to attack it and I was a little off.

Because it was soft enough I took some out of the red tub and placed it in a bowl. Kind of like a cream. It worked but not too smooth. I can see the typical method is to treat it like a soap and not a cream. I have taken cream directly from the tub and put it in the bowl prior to mixing instead of loading the brush in the cream bowl. :thumbup1:
