What's new

can i please get some help on info and price of this antique barbers chair

my wife was talking to this lady at a flea market and she said she had this barber chair. my wife took pics of it and sent them to me. im supposed to call the lady to talk to her about it but i could use some info and what a decent proce would be for what it is. she is asking 600 for it which i would rather not pay unless its a good deal. i have been trying to look stuff up on the bay but its not really helping. all i know is that its a koker. i know nothing else about it. anything woudl be helpful. i know price is relative to how much u really want something but at the same time too much is too much

yea if i do get it i wouldnt mind getting it restored.

i remember a while back someone posted a good thread on the old chairs. this person had a book prob like the one u listed be he had all of the pictures and could match up ur picture with the one in his book. he did that for someone who posted a thread like mine. ugh its so hard to buy things u know so little about. although i bet if i passed this up i would not be happy with myself

how old do u think it is jim? and how can u tell? im being sincere when i ask. i would really like to know so that i know what to look for.

I have very clear memories of sitting in one as a kid, I am only guessing but I would say 1930's at the low end. I am not an expert in this at all just my impression.

Ok just looking at what is available on eBay, your chair seems to be in average to poor shape, with loss of plating on some of the metal, rusting on the operator arms, discoloration of the painted parts, etc. It could be a super rare model worth thousands, but barring that, I dunno if its worth 600, as the only Koken chairs with bids on them was one at 750.00. There were many wih 2000.00 BIN's tho.

Awwwww - the ultimate in luxury. Imagine sitting in that chair with a small mirror, a bowl of hot water, your razor and some 'oldies music" playing in the background while you give yourself a shave.

For her it's probably a white elephant. Offer her half and you'll probably get it and that would be a good deal.
