I acquired a gem micromatic that is missing the "catch" for lack of better words that the blade rests on, on one side. Really doubt there is a fix for it but just having a hard time *gulp* throwing it away. Was wondering what everyone else does in these situations.

If you're not handy, and have no metal working skills to repair it, PIF it for postage to anyone who wants to take a crack at it.
If you mean the little hook at the front, I tried silver soldering a small piece of copper but it didn't work - fortunately, MMs are inexpensive so a half dozen or so have since replaced it

yeah the hook is missing on one end. I already have another one on the way.

You'd probably get more bites in a new PIF thread on the BST forum.
Nothing attracts attention like the word "free".
