Built my own brush holder - No 1

So I needed a brush & razor holder when I picked up my setup intially.
I've always liked wood, but the options were limited and I picked up the Col Conks one from Amazon.

While it works, the rear trench for the razor wasn't big enough, and I'd wanted it on a tilt to better keep the razor in place.

So without further ado, I set out to match what came in the mail, from some fallen cedars in my yard.

A bit chunkier, but I think it does the trick.
If I had a band saw and drill press the whole thing would've been better and easier to build, but as it was a coping saw, cordless drill, and table saw with clamps here and there sufficed.
I'll let the picture speak for themselves.
Unfinished raw cedar so the smell permeates the brush :biggrin1:

The whole thing is now heading overto my brother as a PIF - I'm trying to convert him to wetshaving..

Nice job on the woodwork and an even nicer job in sending the shave kit on to your brother. I hope that he can use it and appreciate it.
Well done!

That's a sharp looking stand!! It looks so much better made out of red cedar vs. the pine (or is it oak?) of the original. Good work. :tongue_sm

Very nice!! I love clear cedar, and I'm intrigued at where you found such a large block.

The red cedar what what I used. The yellowed stand next to it was the original by Col Conks. We've got some Red Cedar trees in the yard, so whenever one kicks it I cut it down and let it dry in the barn until I come up with a good use for it. Bunk Beds are next.

I'm hoping to make one similar to a standard metal stand soon.
I'll be posted that one as well.

I meant clear by the quality of the wood......you've built a very fine stand and one you should be proud of. I can only imagine that the beds you would build would be the same! Thanks for sharing it with us.

This looks great. It's much better than the one I made out of bent wire a month ago. Congrats! Would you consider making a few more and selling them to the members or even on Ebay?
