(Brush) "Made in Germany Brit. Side" (??)

I am trying to date the coolest shaving brush I have. It is a 'Travel King' of celluloid or bakelite, not quite sure yet. I have found no references on this razor, but it says

Made in Germany Brit Side

Does anybody have any ideas if this would be post ww2 or what period of time this might be in.

Unless someone knows all about the fold up Travel King brush.

thnx

That sounds like a pretty interesting brush.

Can you post pics. of it?

I sure would like to! I am right in the middle of moving my home and there is stuff everywhere!! I only just got the net up and running yesterday - where are the cables?? Who knows?

Workin on it!

You are right; that is a very cool looking brush!

I have never seen one like this before.

The bristles are boar and looks to be in serviceable condition.

Made in Germany Brit Side suggests that it is made in the British controled part of Germany just after WWII.

Made in the British-controlled sector of Occupied Germany, sometime between 1945 and 1949 (when West & East Germany came in to being).

I had some old tin toys marked "Made in US Sector of Germany" at one time...now long gone.

Thanx guys. That makes sense for the timing. I had originally thought it would be earlier because it appears to be ivory colored celluloid. I was thinking late 20's, early 30's. I didn't think celluloid was used as late as into the forties. It could be a different material I suppose, but it yellows like celluloid - maybe it is merely from a smokers house. It certainly seems like it must be post war. The idea too that it would likely not be from after the creation of East & West Germany makes sense also. I will accept that it was probably therefore made bw 45-49 - good job thnx!

Anyhoo - I think I should whip up some uberlather with it and breathe some new life into it!

thanx for the contributions

I would be carefull about using it, these old boar bristles may not be up to the task and start breaking and shedding.

This brush is so special that I, if it were mine, would keep it as a collectors item instead of using it.

If you decide to use it though; let us know how it performs.

I think I will heed your advice and not use it. It would be a shame if any damage came to it. I have some vintage badgers I use from time to time and they work very well. But, you are probably right about the boar. The bristles do seem stiff and the plastic itself - it would be a shame to crack it or screw up the mechanism at this point.

Good enough then - I shall save it for a showpiece. Thanx for reigning in my poorly thought out enthusiasm!

Rocket, that is an amazing brush and you are making a good decision to preserve it. When its closed it looks like a mini-planetarium. When you open it up the globe has that wonderful streamlined look of Flash Gordon. Thank you for sharing this.
