bostonian vs new deluxe

Hi guys

So ive learned since joining this site that gillette liked to take a model and give it two different finishes and call them different names
now im looking at the new deluxe vs the bostonian. the Deluxe is gold and the bostonian is silver.
Just wanted to confirm that they have the same exact head and that they both have the same shaving results

Right. The Bostonian is a New Improved, Gillette's high-end models from the '20s, and the Criterion Gold (which is the set name for that particular one you have pictured) is a NEW DeLuxe, Gillette's upscale models from the first half of the '30s. The New Improved head has cap studs that pass all the way through the guard plate to position the blade, where the the bottom of the NEW DeLuxe's guard plate is solid and the cap has a bar that fits into a slot on the top of the guard plate to position the blade.

Thanks for the info, so from this information i would understand that both have a different shave ?

IMO the NEW Deluxes are a bit more aggressive than the other Gillette OC's of this era. If you want a full taste of a classic, effective open-comb shave, these models are your bet. They are beautifully made and taming these are fun. Just got a Big Boy NEW Deluxe and it's been one of the most satisfying and aggressive OC experiences I've had. They come in different flavors: Criterion, Big Boy, Tuckaway, etc...............

Is the outer shell solid or can it be bent easilly ?

If you're referring to the barrel, they don't bend but can crack at the ends if you're too rough.
