Ok, here's the last one.

[POST=2284601]Here's one reference for hair grade. [/POST]

As for price, choose what you are willing to spend on a brush based on all of your other choices.

The other two polls:

[THREAD=160832]Poll #1: Manufacturer, Knot size, Knot color[/THREAD]
[THREAD=160834]Poll #2: Handle Style, Handle Color[/THREAD]

Edit: Notice that the poll will end on Sunday

24mm knot would be spectacular, but I think a touch less than 55mm loft would be excellent. Semogue Premium bristle (is undyed really a possibility?) should come out best for those with little boar experience, as I think they're the softest out of the box and require the least amount of break in time.

Personally, I favor the big knots - especially since a boar won't splay as much as a badger.

Perhaps 'undyed' is the wrong term for cream? The Semogue 2000 has 90% Premium bristles and it's cream. That's sort of what I was thinking.

While a higher loft might look nice, it starts to get too floppy when you get up there. 55 works well, 52-53 even more so. While 57 looks better I think it could end up being too floppy depending on the knot.

"Loft" is the one thing I didnt vote on. I'll be happy with the majority vote.

My Semogue 620 has 50 mm loft and I like that.

+1. You want special? I mean, "B&B LE Special?" Try this: Semogue 830 bristle grade with a 50mm loft. I can't believe the 830 has a 55mm loft! Its a travesty! Arrgghh! (drama anyone?... I am serious about the 830 bristle grade with 50mm loft, though. That would be awesome.) I like a 22mm knot diameter, btw, and I don't think any boar should cost over $40, LE or not.

I hope people voting on loft actually know what they're voting for based on experience (Semogue experience at that, since Semogue seems to be the manufacturer of choice in that poll). Loft is the most important brush dimension, imo. It controls backbone, in part, as well as (post-bloom) density. (The amount of hair used to construct the knot is obviously a factor too.) Loft should always be considered with regard to hair grade, imo.

Maybe there should also be a poll with "bowl latherer interested in B&B boar" and "face latherer interested in B&B boar." That might be getting poll-crazy, though.

Yup...shorter is better for sure!

To a point. That said, I'd have a 22mm diameter Vulfix 2233 boar with a 45mm loft in a heartbeat, should such an animal ever exist. That's the softest (and floppiest) boar I've ever encountered. I can't imagine a Semogue boar with less than 45 to 50mm loft, though, and I would never want Semogue 620 grad hair shorter than 50mm. They nailed the loft on that brush, imo.

Voted for 55mm and under for loft, based on my limited experience with a cheapie boar. Would love to see it come in for cheap as well, but not if it means major compromises on the bristle quality (which I know nothing about).

Andy, you've got a point about the brush not being too expensive, but it's supposedly getting a more custom treatment, and user input than other LE's that go into production. Plus, it will probably be a very limited run. Still, I think $40 would be awesome to shoot for.

As is, I've been dreaming about a 24 x 52mm knot for a while now. Semogue Premium grade, filled slightly less dense than the SOC. Wouldn't want to scare the inexperienced boar users away with an ungodly long break in.

I just ordered a Boreal 322 the other day for head shaving. 24mm knot / 49mm loft. Even if this brush never breaks-in, and falls apart within a few months, I intend to get my $9 worth.
