So, now that the bidding's over, anyone have any information about this recent Ebay item? Has anyone ever heard of such a thing before? If it's real, that's a cool score indeed.

M4 puts it in the second year of black handled super speed production, my first guess is someone monkeying around and recoating the handle in a teal resin... but I'm clueless past guessing it's fake. Neat if it's real, I look forward to Guido and/or others dropping some knowledge on the situation.

I have to wonder if this gentleman replates the razors he gets, because they are always in fantastic condition. Even if he doesn't, he somehow gets them in prestine cases, and in near-mint, if not mint, condition. I'd like to know his secret.

According to the seller (if she can be believed) the source of the pristine razors had a brother who worked for Gillette for many years and got him these things for his collection. But I, too, am a little dubious.

I'll throw in my skeptic hat as well and say I guessed it was a replated razor being passed as straight from the factory.
I think the handles from that time were aluminum, so the blue color would be anodized. It looks like that in the pictures too. Does anyone know if anodization is easy or does it need a large factory to support it.
I get quite a lot of Al alloy parts anodized - a batch minimum is $50 and I can get many colors, including a turquoise-blue very like the razor. I have never exceeded the minimum batch even with a load of plates and tubes, so you could probably get about 50 razor handles done in one lot I expect.
It looks nice enough, I prefer it to the black. Someone probably stripped the razor and put the handle in with a batch of bike parts or something.

lol...like buyin a moto razor cellphone..all the same quality...just prettier..lol
From my dealings with the seller, I think he is both clueless and incredibly lucky. He knows bollocks about what he is selling, but he does get some amazingly cherry stuff. I have gotten a couple of pretty decent scores from him, and I have recoiled in horror a couple of times at his prices and carnival-huckster rhetoric.
ya know different colored handles would be a neat option. never thought about it til i saw the green one.
