Black-tipped Superspeed; same as any other 40s style?

I picked up a user-grade black-tip SS at an antique store. It looks to be dated 1950.

Is this thing pretty much the same as a 40s SS? Or does the aluminum handle make it a completely different beast?

Thanks in advance.

It is a 40's style Superspeed, even though it's dated 50. The head on all of these are virtually identical. It's going to be lighter due to the handle, but should otherwise shave the same.

Can you make out the date code? The black tips came out in 1951 I believe and except for the prototype V3, Gillette didn't start dating their razors again until 1951. That date code would be a W.

As far as a shaver goes I have 2 aluminum and 1 steel black tips. They shave the same as the undated '48 to '50. I find the '47 a little different.

Sorry. It's a '51. It has the W date code.
