Black Tip

Ok so I was at the antique store the other day and saw a Gillette Black Tip. I was curious if they are rare or something because I hardly ever see them discussed or on BST. If someone has shaved with one, how would you say it shaved?

I am thinking about going back and picking it up today but am curious on how it shaves first. I am trying my best to stifle RAD so I want to know if I will actually use it instead of have it sit on the shelf. Thanks in advance for the info I know that I will receive.

The black tip is a variation of the 40s style Super Speed. They were made in the early 50s during a period of fluctuating brass supply in the US. That model was made in several renditions of steel or aluminum handles and base plates in the head. Take a magnet with you to test. IIRC there were a couple examples found that the black tip was even made of medal and not plastic.

Sorry I was off doing other things. It is 10 bucks.

I picked up one with the steel handle in great shape at a local antique shop for the same price. I love mine. Go for it, you can't go wrong getting a vintage Gillette for $10.00
