What's new

bic metal edge

i'm still new here. i've been using mach 3 for quite a while and still use it even though i've switched to soap and brush instead of canned foam.
i THINK someone suggested i consider switching to bic metal edge since i'm a bit hesitant about moving to de for fear of pain and blood loss. however, since i've read so much stuff here, i no longer remember what i've read and where.

would others of you recommend this? i'm in the process of searching for a de razor and blade but until then, i'm gonna have to go with something from the store. and since i have to buy a razor anyway, (i'm almost out of mach 3), i'd be willing to try the metal edge if people here feel that would be a step in the right direction.

oh, many people have praised the sensor. how do those compare to metal edge? i have a bunch of sensors left when i had switched back to mach 3. (or i could save money and finish using up the sensor and by that time i should have a de razor?)

This sounds like the best idea for now, if you already have extra Sensor cartridges lying around. I have a Sensor handle and am mulling whether I want to buy a few cartridges for an experiment.

What do you have to lose?

Lets start this with YMMV! I have been wet shaving for many years and recently took a vacation from my straights, which I love! I have found that the BIC metal gives me a closer shave than ANYTHING but a straight. I know this sounds like blasphemy and I will probably catch some flack over it, but it works for me. The little BIC shaves closer than ANY of my DE's, and I own nearly every one you can think of. One only gets 2 or 3 shaves out of it, but it is still cheaper than most DE blades. It is nimble and really gets me a BBS every time!
I, for one, most whole-heartedly recommend them!
Remember, YMMV!!!!

I'm relatively new and don't know all the lingo . . but when you say Bic metal edge, are you talking about a Bic disposable? If you are then I can say I went through the same process. Been shaving with Bic disposables for years and went to the DE several months ago. I find it a much better shave. I have a beautiful Edwin Jagger imitation ivory handle with the great new head. Occasionally I'll go and use one of my leftover Bic disposables to compare and it does not do half as good a job. The light weight skips over my whiskers thereby requiring several more passes (more irritation). The nice heft of my DE plus the sharpness of my Gillette 7 O'clock blades gives me a far superior shave.
