Between shave blade/razor care

I didn't see a way to make a poll nor did I see anything relevant in a search so I'll just ask that you post your response.

1. Do you use a new blade for each shave?

2. If you reuse blades, do you remove them from the razor or leave them in?

3. How thoroughly do you clean your razor after a shave? Sterile? Wiping off all residue? A quick rinse?

I have taken to removing the blade then rinsing and drying it off between shaves. Is this a waste of time? Yeah yeah, ultimately it is up to me, but wanted to know what you folks prefer.

Thanks!

I reuse blades for 4 or more shaves. I NEVER take them out. Just rinse the whole razor under hot water, then wipe dry/polish the razor with a towel, making sure NOT to wipe the blade.

I used to remove the blade and wipe it in a stopping motion on a towel, wipe down the razor, reassemble and put away for next use, but have since stopped touching the blade with anything and my 2nd and 3rd shaves have gotten better. I must have been messing up the edge before.

Now I open up the razor, and just blow the water droplets out and then close it up and let it air dry. I replace the blade every 3 shaves and give the razor a thorough wiping at that time.

No rust, no gunk build up...

Everybody does it differently. For a while I just rinsed the razor under the water and placed it by the side of the sink. I use a blade for 2-4 days, depending on which blade I'm using.

I have a TTO DE, so blade removal is easy. Lately I've been taking the blade out, blotting it dry once on a cloth. Then I dry off the razor. then I put the blade back into the razor and leave the doors not tightly closed. I still use a blade for 3-4 days.

I know what I'm doing is probably overkill. I do it to keep my razor looking nice; it doesn't have anything to do with the blade, really. I've found that old water spots are the hardest things to clean off razors, so I like to dry my razor everyday. I will NOT dry the razor with a blade in it (too risky), so I take it out.

I should mention the razor I am currently using is a 3 piece Merkur, so I remove the handle and try it thoroughly, then blow the water drops of the head/blade and reassemble.

I use a blade 3 - 6 times, it all depends on how it feels while I'm shaving and how close the shave is. I leave the blade in the razor, just swish it around in hot water or let the hot tap run on it clear away the soap residue

don't know if its right, but been doing it this way since 1960.
