Better to trade or buy direct?

I just got a Merkur Futur (Chrome) and after having shaved with my old
Eversharp and GEM razors I've decided I prefer the SE type.

Should I trade these to get a hold of a Cobra Classic, or just buy a new one
directly? I'm not sure what the interest levels would be.

Suggestions?

You won't know until you post and find out. It's entirely up to you. I can't say there's one that's better than the other.

I see posting a Trade as an official commitment. I don't want to post, then
end up buying direct and having to cancel.

Look at the BST Posting rules sticky... you have the time, just need to increase posts to meet the minimum criteria.

A lot of people looking for Futur's out there.

I did... only saw a post or two about the Cobra. And that's the crux...
while people are looking FOR a Futur, I haven't seen much interest in
getting rid of a Cobra.

Well, get your post number up and then post a WTT message for your specific criteria. Maybe there is a member out there that has a Cobra and wants a Futur. The answer is always NO until you ask.

Well, selling the Futur has its advantages because it mitigates the requirement for you to negotiate a trade. Heck, I'm interested in a chrome Futur and I'm sure other's here that would buy one as well, so selling it won't be the problem. While, you can save some money if you trade, you'll find it more time is consuming and it can be frustrating trying to find a buyer and/or seller.

Apart from meeting the requirements to post a WTT thread, I do think you're going to have problems finding someone who wants to trade away a Cobra classic.

For a successful FS thread, only one criterion has to be met - you need to find a person who wants a Futur (easy enough).

For a successful WTT thread, you need to not only find someone who wants to get rid of a Cobra, they also have to want a Futur.

It may happen (only one way to find out), but it's unlikely.

When you hit the posts mark, just post a FS thread and use the money towards a Cobra.
