Better Canned Goo?

I was wondering (don't shoot me) if there were any "higher-end" or "luxury" brands of canned shave cream. I've tried A LOT of brush creams and they all burn my face (even the unscented ones) and I think it's due to the coconut and/or palm oil/acids that do it.

So, I've tried Gillette Foamy and Barbosol canned creams and I actually get really good results. They work well for me. However, I'm not crazy about the scents except for the Foamy Lemon-lime.

Anyone know of other brands that make a canned cream? Like maybe L'occitan e, or Kiehls or something. Also, I don't like gels at all. They seem to make the razor drag a lot.

Cool. I had forgotten I had seen proraso and speick shaving foam. It's on sale too at Westcoastshaving. Thanks for that suggestion.

I've tried edge and I'm not a fan. Gels aren't for me.

I know you are saying gels aren't for you, but Aveeno makes a sensitive shaving gel that is canned and is actually quite good. I used it when I first got a brush, and would just squirt it into the brush and face lather. For less than 5 dollars, it is definitely worth a try. I believe there is a review here on the site.

I haven't found the one in a yellow can yet. I'll have to keep looking. I've noticed that my shave den is becoming more and more "unique" by B&B standards. I have four different Trac II handles, Atra handles, Schick Super II handles, 5 different canned creams, etc, and it's growing.

And my dream razor is now the Gillette deluxe trac II handle.

I noticed that CO Bigellow has the can version of its Proraso cream at Bath and Bodyworks. Have you tried the creams like Proraso/Co Bigellow also? you just may have a cream friendly face, not everyone's skin digs the same products.

Cool. I'll have to go down to Bath and Body Works. I've tried the real proraso and it burned my face too. My list of creams I've tried is very very long, and I've yet found one I can use.

LaToja, Speick and Proraso all make one.
Tabac even lists one on there website, but I have never seen it for sale anywhere.

I used to like the Nivea in the white can available at Walmart.

If I ever find myself in need of canned foam again, I'd like to give this one a try:

+1, I moved up in the canned stuff before switching to the brush and soap/creams we use here and the Aveeno's pretty good.
Also try the Nivea sensitive skin line (white can?) and maybe the L'Oreal one (light blue, orange lid)

Santa Maria Novella makes a canned "shaving foam". I don't know if you'll find anything higher end than that.

+1, I haven't tried their shaving gear but they're a slighly more mass production high quality niche company.

If you can find it, Erasmic makes a spray version (tho I've never used) that should be good.

Back in the day, I like the Aveno brand quite a bit. Edge sensitive gel (non-mentholated one) was also good, IIRC.

Best one ever that I've tried is the Neutrogena can. *shrug* YMMV of course.

Barbarsol in the Red and White can is my travel buddy unless I carry my Remington Electric Razor with me on the road.

+1

Best performing goo I found was the Aveeno Positively Smooth. It's a gel, but plenty slick, and unlike most canned products which have a horrid synthetic smell, this one has a pleasant smell of almonds.

I don't think that product is at all related to Proraso.

I have seen the product you are likely talking about (a non-aerosol gel product that matches the same scents as the Elixir Aftershave line (Elixir Red, Green, Blue, and Black). As far as I know only the C.O. Bigelow Premium Shaving Cream in the green metal tube is a Proraso re-branded product.
