Best brushless cream?

What would you guys say is the best brushless shave cream/gel for a Futur razor?

Could a cream which is meant to be used with a brush do just as well without a brush or should I aim only at brushless creams if I don't have a brush?

PS. I will get a brush eventually I just want to try out the simpler options first.
Also could I use TOBS without a brush? I saw a great deal on it but didn't buy because I didn't have a brush (and because I bought a shave cream yesterday but that's a different issue).

Thanks

Trader Joe's and Cremo Cream both work well. I tend to use them in the shower due to their convenience. However I would recommend getting a brush, as you can get a wetter better shaving lather if you whip it up.

Hackett Brushless Shave Cream.

You can use ANY cream without a brush ... in many ways, I prefer to do it this way, as it saves a lots of prep and clean-up time, and leaves a lot more room free on the sink.

You can even use any SOAP without a brush ... just rub some directly on your wet face, and rub it up with your palm and fingers. Once a good lather is built up, I keep my left hand full of lather for the next pass, and rinse the right one clean to hold the razor.

nancy boy is fine w or w/o.

Unfortunately I can't find nancy boy or trader joe's creams anywhere in the UK.

That sounds great! Does that mean I can get TOBS and the rest of the shave creams all the guys are praising around here and get a nearly as good of a shave as if I used a brush? I was worried about buying a shave cream for a brush to use it brushless and not being able to shave with it because it's brush only.

As I said, I haven't found any cream or soap yet that absolutely requires a brush. Some state on the package that they are brushless, some say they can be used with or without, some say to use a brush ... but every soap and cream that I've tried without a brush ALL produce a good, shavable lather.

You still need to go through normal prep steps ... a good face-scrubbing, get your beard good and wet, use some pre-shave if you're so inclined ... but once you get ready to lather, just rub it directly on your face with your hand(s) and massage it into your beard, just like you would if you were using a brush to face-lather. Let it sit for 30~60 seconds to soften up the whiskers, add a little more water as needed, then put the blade to work.

i've just recently left my brush and shaving set at my parents; by accident.

the other day i used a tube of Musgo and a gillete disposably twin blade razor.

I just smeared some cream onto my hand and rubbed it into my face. It didn't "Lather" but i have to admit the shave was fine, plenty of lubrication. Worked well!! Nothing like using the a brush though.

This has been my default mode lately ... and I get it to lather just fine. With Musgo, you need to remember that it is an extremely thirsty cream, and it seems to work best with a sloppy-wet consistency, so add more water and keep adding as you shave.

Face lathering without a brush works for soaps, too ... I've done it with MWF, L'Occ Cade, Provence Sante, and Williams. And of course, you can SuperLather just fine. I've found MWF+MR is a great combo, since they both are rich in Lanolin, and the two scents work together well.

I'm trying to remember the last time I used my brush (B&B Essential was my go-to) ... but its been at least early July since it was last put into play. I get along just fine without it, and so can you.

Another vote for Nancy Boy...great with or without a brush. Cremo's good too, but I just don't enjoy it for some reason. I gave it to the wife for her leggiewegs...

Trader Joe's made by Alba) and Nancy Boy are excellent. Prefer to go brushless when travelling, one less item to pack/carry, the only time I will use a disposable/cartridge razor, can'tcarryitonitdoesn'tgoalong.

I've been using some "tube creams" lately...Erasmic, Tom's of Maine, etc. Usually, I just squeeze out a glob into my bowl and work it up. I almost never look at the labels. Last week I got some new ones and, for a change, read the directions. They all appeared to be "brushless".
