I bought a ten dollar bowl from a local "Peddlers Mall" vendor who deals in pottery. I think I know what the OP may be getting at. The inside is a little roughed up, (glazed but still rough), and it produces good lather. I'm guessing this is a similar bowl.

I have wondered about this type bowl with a rougher textured surface. I can see where the added friction might help make lather better, or at least faster. But I've wondered if the rougher texture would also wear and damage and therefore shorten the life of your brush?

that does look nice, I have been looking for something like this. I'm going to see if they have it at my local walmart. what section did she find it in? Thanks!

I WANT THAT BOWL!! You should get a bunch to sell (to me). How 'bout tomorrow? It is just what I was looking for and I knew it the moment I saw.

here ya go sorry it was early but the inner bowl is unglazed made a nice coolwhip like texture
thanks

Welcome to BB.
I like that texture of your bowl but I do not know which way it affects to the performance. If it holds soap/cream in these cuts it is a problem, else it gives a nice palm lathering resistance effect and helps to make quality lather.

If you ave an asian store near you, have a look and chances are you might find the exact same type of bowl because they are used to grind sesame seeds into sauces with the help of a pestle.

I agree. The texture would make me think that a better lather could be made. Interesting.....
