Best blade for avoiding ingrown hairs and bumps?

Whats the best blade for avoiding ingrown hairs and bumps? I've been able to rid myself of all irritation with my technique, but I have one small trouble spot on my neck where my facial hair grows in a dramatic cowlick. It seems no matter what I do, I always get irritation there. Even razor bump treatment lotions aren't effective.

I've been using feathers for the last year, but I've also tried pol-silver super iridiums, merkurs, and 7 o' clocks. Admittedly I haven't tried anywhere the amount of blades that I've tried with razors, lotions, and creams so I'm here to ask.. have any members here stumbled across a blade that seems to be the best in regards to preventing irritation?

This problem has been incredibly frustrating for me and I've even been considering getting laser hair removal on the trouble spot as nothing seems to work for it. Heck, even attempting to only shave "WTG" on the trouble spot, proves to be impossible considering the hairs there grow in every direction imaginable thus it's impossible for me to shave that area without going against the area on some of the hairs there.

Have you tried stretching your skin tighter at the problem location?

Keeping the skin taught and as flat as possible should help you out

If your fingers slip, rub your finger tips with alum which will help you get a better grip.

One side of my jaw and chin is very rough and modern aggressive razor will give me fits in that area. The reason I still use them is the BBS shaves I get. After a while I just back off for several days and load a Red Tip, Aristocrat, Fat Handle Tech, Super Adjustable or even my Knack with a Yellow or Derby blade and use them. They will not give me a complete BBS but I can count on a great DFS every time with ZERO irritation.-Just my way of fighting the irritation.

I find Feathers are rough for me to use in most razors and always look for the smoother cut. In modern razors I mainly use Med Preps, SI, PermaSharps, Polisilver and Blacks. In older razors, Yellows, Derbys, Crystals, and Med Preps and they all seem to work best for me.

I moved to wet shaving because modern razors gives me a lot of ingrown hairs.

I do fine with 1 or maximum 2 passes WITH THE GRAIN only. Not BBS but I am OK with DFS.

I used a Feather blade once (wich came with Feather Popular razor) and still doing this I got two ingrown hairs, wich does not happen with other blades (mostly Astra or Gillettes).

Before shaving I do warm bath with skin exfoliating cream wich helps a lot also.

Bumps don't form immediately. They are the result of the hair starting to grow back. If you shave in the morning, try washing your face after work or early evening using a soft brush with your cleanser and follow up with an antiseptic such as witch hazel or Dolerma or something that contains salicylic acid, such as Zirh Fix. The Body Shop has a small brush for only a couple of dollars that is quite soft. The brush will help the trouble areas by getting the tip of the hair out. Use the brush pre-shave as well. Don't scrub the heck out of your face - be gentle.

I think closer shaving is the cause of ingrown hairs to people wich are susceptible to them.

Maybe shaving not so close but good enough is the key.

This is what I do. If I do not clean/exfoliate the skin I get ingrowns in the hollows in my neck every time.
