Decidedly un-British, but the last of the big pot of black eyed peas is great on buttered toast, sprinkled lightly, of course, with Melinda's Bhut Jolokia ghost pepper sauce. A fried egg on top would be a nice upgrade.

My kid is on school holidays, so I just bought an electric jaffle maker (plus a vintage cast iron job, like I had as a kid if we want to go outdoorsing), and have been making various recipes for lunches.
