Battle Of The Small but Big: Wee Scot vs Omega Mighty Midget

There's been a lot of talk about these two brushes. The Wee is Simpson's ambassador to their best grade line and the Omega 11047 demonstrates the versatility and affordability of the Omega line.
I wanted to showcase their performance in a head to head showdown.

Tools:
Razor: R41
Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Blue
Soap: MDC
Passes:
1st and 3rd pass: Mighty Midget.
I spent about 30 seconds loading brush after it soaked in my scuttle during the shower along with the Wee. It was a nice choice for the first pass due to it's exfoliating nature. It's got the softness of the boar with the light sprinkled scritch of pure badger. The MDC exploded after a few swirls and I painted the lather during the last few moments of the first lather. It's not as cumbersome to hold as the Wee. The highlight of using the MM is for it's exfoliating scrub that's not as scritchy or uncomfortable as some pure grades can feel. It doesn't "paint" as well as the Wee though.

2nd and 4th pass: Wee Scot
I spent the same time loading as I did the MM and when it was on my face it's a bit of a contrast than the other brush. It's soft and super scrubby and precisely puts the lather where I want it. I find myself spending extra time enjoying the messaging feel of the Wee.
Notice how I hold the Wee. It keeps it safe from slipping in case the lather spills over (which it does). The Wee is like an appetizer for other Simpson brushes. It's backbone, density and softness is characteristic of it's old brethren. Worth it's cash but can be a pain to hold.

Both brushes hold tons of lather for their diminutive size. When loaded, each brush is good for 3-5 passes, even the Wee.
Here's what's left over after 2 passes with the Wee:

Bottom Line:
Both brushes are on the small scale but pack huge punch in performance. They both have a sort of Napolean complex among brushes and have their strong set of fans. Both are great brushes. The Mighty Midget is popular for it's $15 price tag. A lot of brush for the money. The Wee Scot always surprises those when they initially encounter it. It looks delicate, but don't be fooled! It hangs with the big boys. Which one is my favorite? I've reached more for the Might Midget lately but after revisiting the Wee, I think I'm going to be spending a little more time with it.
Great brushes and highly recommended!

Ironically, I've been looking into both of these brushes so your little experiment is very timely. Thank you for doing the write up. What I'm taking away from this is: I should just buy both?

In a nutshell, if you're going to spend for a Wee why not spend a few more on the Mighty Midge?
They perform differently.

What about the case i love it

I love the Case as well but I didn't include it in this showdown. I should though.
Though the Case is a small brush, I see it as more as a "medium-small" brush. The density and backbone on the Case is amazing. In fact, I'm going on a trip to Virginia in a couple of weeks and the Case will accompany me. It's my go-to brush for trips.

I have the Wee Scott, Case and Mighty Midget and the WS is my least favorite of the little pukes.

The Case and the MM are both a lot better, they are real brushes, whereas the Wee Scott is so small it is just a novelty item.

Then there is the "Bambino" or Omega 599. Same handle as the Midget, similar size knot, but Silvertip. Heck of a brush.

I prefer the Wee Scot to the Mighty Midget due to there being much less scritch (at least with mine). The face feel of the Wee is more luxurious though the handle size can be bothersome, I get a kick out of using it. If I would only use the Wee then my soaps and creams would last a really long time.

Nice write up, very imformative to those who haven't tried these brushes yet.

Krona, where in Va will you be going?

* That is correct, sir. When deciding on two brushes, it's always best to get both, then decide.

Dirty Donuts are so Good.
Haven't tried the wee scot, but the mighty midget's big brush performance, takes away the desire to do so.

So...I decided to finally pull the trigger on one of these little power houses and I went with the Mighty Midget. Figured with it's price it was a no brainer to try. When WCS had their DOD on Shark SC's I couldn't pass it up! Hope it gets here before the weekend.

Thanks for the efforts Krona!

If WCS would just get the Windsor Soap in stock I'd be all over it and the DOD and a MM! Waiting to order though till they get the soap.

I've been wanting to get my hands on a Wee for awhile now. Not sure I'll love it though, so a used one I think would be best.

I had a Wee Spaniard (the Vie-Long 13120) and it was a great little brush. Maybe it should be included in the next battle of the midgets.

I've had it and sold it. It was too firm and unevenly splayed but it wasn't bad. For horse grade, you want a lot of hair to fully "benefit" from the texture. IMO, of course.
