Hi all, I want to share a big shout out to Paul at Trotter Handcrafts. That's his Kannon Mk II shape in British Green with an AP Shave Co. Pure Bliss synthetic knot. Amazing brush.
He says the know is somewhere between the G5A and G5C and I think that's right. It's 26mm which is a bit bigger than the 24mm SOC-style brushes I typically prefer, but the feel and performance are excellent. I've been using a lot of Noble Otter soaps and the brush loads quickly, paints and splays like a champ, and holds a ton of lather. I face lather and have no problem with 3 passes at one go to the soap bowl.
As far as synthetics go this knot is top-notch. It's better (for me) than most other synthetics including the Big Bruce, Muhle and SOC. The only synthetics that are close (again, for me) are other AP Shave Co. knots (I like the G5C a bit better than the G5A) and the Tatara Muramasa synthetic (smaller, but excellent).
Turnaround, shipping, and communications were all first-rate. I'll probably try a couple of his other handle shapes/colors on different knots after the holidays. If you're looking for a good brush, I can definitely recommend you give Paul a try.
