What's new

Back to Shark SS

So, back when I was using Shark Super Stainless blades in a Parker 86R as my sole razor I had consistently good shaves. After that razor broke, I tried several different razor and blade combinations. I found that in most razors, Astra SPs worked well for me. . . except in my New LC. Both Personna labs and Astras were just killing me in this razor. I had irritation, weepers, and redness--not to mention my neck looked awful. Although the shave was close enough, I just could not stand to use it.

The past two shaves I've been using the Sharks again, and this has utterly transformed the New. No irritation, no cuts, and no trouble getting a DFS.

It seems like when I thought I was trading up, I was actually just trading.

Sharks are coming back around in my rotation. The first time around, I was a big time noob with a brand new Futur that tried to kill me many times, regardless of the blade I was using and the shark was no exception. With about 65 DE shaves now under my belt, I'm hoping my technique has improved enough that the shark will turn out to be a good performer for me, as others have on the 2nd try. It's going to be difficult though. Right now the sweet spot for me is a feather in a super speed or a kai in a slim set on "3".

I've also come back to using Sharks. I've had a surprising experience having used Derby's in my Cadet OC and having mixed results with irritation and weepers. I couldn't use the razor more than one day a week. On a lark, I decided to try the Sharks, and what a pleasant surprise! I have been using the Cadet OC for a solid week and getting irritation and largely nick-free DFS shaves.

I have a couple of packs of these blades that I bought sometime last year and never used them. I think it's time I try them along with the two packs of Bolzanos I've never tried as well.
