What's new

Back after 35 years

After lurking here for a couple of weeks, I decided to go back to Wet Shaving after 35 years away from it. I purchased a Merkur 34C set from Vintage Blades ( no affiliation) and was suprised when it came. Free samples of some shaving creams, and a syptic pencil as well. What a great shave, Why did I ever get away from DE Shaving.

Welcome to B&B from another who "came in from the cold" after something like 40 years. I have enjoyed the re-entry to good old fashioned wet-shaving. I found it was a little like riding a bicycle and it came back quickly.

There are many areas for you to explore! Vintage razors, soaps, creams, blades, brushes, Single Edge (SE and Injector) razors, maybe even straight razors.

It is rewarding to master a skill.

My wife tells me this is 2009, not 1909. I guess she just shakes her head as I use nothing but Fountain pens and dip pens as well.

Brian,

A smooth cheek and the smell of a quality aftershave should be all to her benefit. If pointing that out and demonstrating the difference doesn't persuade her, just tell her, "Sometimes the Old School is the best school." :thumbup1:

And then, depending on how she takes it, smile or run.

Welcome to B&B! May all your shaves be smooth.

Absolutely correct, gallons of Edge, Foamy and many too many to remember. Grew a beard to keep from shaving, but the edging was a nightmare with the disposables. What a great way to start the day, a wet shave and a mug of strong coffee. It doesn't get any better.

Thanks for the welcome

Welcome brianw. You read like someone I'd be willing to bet to get interested in straight razors in about....hmmmm...3.5 weeks. Anyone else want to bet?
