What's new

As Requested: Post Bloom Pic of Shavemac

The first pic after the first ever DE shave (which went amazingly well, by the way)! More folks suggested I go with a cream for a first effort, but for some reason I decided on the D.R. Harris Marlborough soap from that pretty Mahogany bowl I recently acquired on here. Very nice and quite enjoyable! I don't think I'm going to miss that Gillette Mach.

A before and after...

Any of the Gentleman that I know on this board would be proud to own such a beautiful brush. Nice choice. I believe you will find its full bloom will come with additional use. What are the demensions of the brush?

Beautiful brush. What is the loft height?

The loft is 45mm w/ a 20mm knot. I had read a post on the board where someone had ordered a brush to those specs. I have a full beard and only shave the neck area, so I thought those dimensions sounded like a good way to go. I sent a message to Bernd Blos at Shavemac and he promptly replied with a quote and purchase link. I ordered on Feb. 4th and the brush arrived from Germany to Oklahoma on the 12th. How's that for service and turnaround? I can't recommend Shavemac enough!

I used D.R. Harris Marlborough soap yesterday and it worked wonderfully. Today I used the TOBS Sensitive cream and it also worked beautifully! I think it is going to be a nice and versatile brush for both! I'm glad I decided to buy something with decent quality as my first brush.

I believe it was me who requested post bloom shots. As suspected it looks even nicer.

Enjoy it, its a beauty.

edit, as you're only a neck shaver, this brush is likely the only one you will ever need. Soon you will likely want more, but thats another matter...

I hope archerfire doesn't mind rather than make another thread i'll post up my new best shavemac in bloom, 21mm knot 52mm loft.

Next one will be at least a 23/45mm finest badger.

I just stumbled onto shavemac's custom page. I can't decided between your handle in the blue or huxley's handle. Is that chrome ring going to hold up? I'm literally seconds from pulling the trigger on the brush and matching stand. I would get the fusion handle since I don't think I'm ready for a DE yet

Since Huxley already added his to the thread, here's a REAL post bloom Shavemac :biggrin1:

This is a 2002 Thula wood custom Berndt made for me. The handle stands but 48mm. Measuring to the top of the silvertip bristles yields a total height of 110mm. The knot is 23mm. This dense super soft big loft has never been a "floppy" issue and works superbly with creams or soaps. With 8 years of use, it continues to be my favorite brush. I keep the wood looking good and protected with applications of food grade mineral oil - beeswax mixture.

Archerfire.... befitting my handle, I am bald but also bearded like you (just changed my avatar as proof! LOL). So I shave my neck, maintain sharp lines on my cheeks, and whack down those few follicles that didn't fall out of my dome. This brush carries enough lather for as many neck passes as I need (usually 3 or 4 with my vintage single injector razors all done at different angles). You'll never regret buying that Shavemac!

Here a shot along side a 2007 Rooney Style 2 Size 1 22mm Super to give a size comparison (yeah I know... the "R" in Rooney has lost a leg):

It was difficult for me to pick a handle. I went back and forth several times. I love the one I got and it is working beautifully on creams and soaps. The ring seems to be very solid and I don't think there will be any problem with it holding up at all. I'm a supremely happy camper! I don't think you will regret whatever one you decide upon. Good quality and Bern is a quality guy to deal with.

Guys, I like those brushes and I certainly don't mind you posting on this thread at all! Let's see more Shavemacs!

I'm digging that blue on Huxley's. I considered blue as well. Aww.. heck.. I considered just about all of 'em!

Bob! I LOVE that handle on that brush! :w00t: Gimme, gimme! My birthday is coming up! Umm.. in December..

@Archerfire I pulled the trigger on one. Same handle as yours but in blue and a 23mm Knot finest badger. Had them put my initials on the bottom of it. :) Down the road I might buy the matching stand and the Fusion handle, I opted instead to pick up a scuttle and some other shave creams, maybe next month I'll get the bug again! I'm glad you posted a picture of yours because I wanted to know what a non-mockup image would look like. Thank you again :) I'm sure I'll be ordering other brushes from them as the years go by.

Excellent! I hope you like it and be sure to post pics when it arrives. I'm sure I'm not the only one who will want to see it!
