That's a shame, plumberroy. But I understand. Our plumbers here (residential, not commercial/healthcare) to a man have trimmed their beards down to around the 3/4 length. Same reason, for the masks.
Well, they finally had me trim it. Or, rather, we opened up for retail instead of maintaining a personal warehouse. So now masks on for much of the day. And for appearances, I had to chop off between 3.5 inches from my cheeks tapering up to 6 inches off my chin. So now I'm what we're calling clean shaven.
The biggest effect (beyond appearance) is on my motorcycle. The longer beard would channel wind up under my helmet keeping me that much cooler in the summer. So now I have to keep the faceshield cracked open a smidgen.
