Okay, I wore this scent on one wrist recently and finally really wore it today. This one needs more wears, but here goes.
This scent is spicy when it goes on, but not a lot. It also has a lemon thing going on. To be honest, it's kinda like Z-14 but without that unbelievably gross lemon and banana scent I got in the opening and full dry down. I don't know why, but I got that from it and it completely disgusted me. Well, Tuscany removed that, or at least removed enough that it was no longer displeasing.
The strong initial scent quickly dies down and the fragrance starts showing its earthy qualities, with a little bit of cinnamon. The cinnamon is more of the scent of cinnamon than the spiciness you would put with it, but it gives enough spice so that the fruity and earth-like qualities are given a nice little zip that makes the fragrance better. The dry down is what I would call spicy lemon with lots of earth, and is not really "perfumey" but more an outdoors scent. Wet ground in the summer. I can see why so many would like this for the wintertime.
I was highly disappointed with Z-14. I have found that many are also disappointed, and many say it has been reformulated to a completely different scent. I got none of the described scents people described to me. In fact, it wasn't even really spicy, either. This one is really good, but still not the spicy one I would love (but it's a discovery that I would have never made otherwise, and this is now going to be used a good amount). I have read it has been reformulated by some, and that means the spice has been removed a good amount, but the thing is is that I have read from others it has not changed at all. It's good, though. Honestly, though...the price it costs is not warranted I think. I have heard this is very much like Azarro, which is a bit cheaper (I have never used Azarro), and I truly believe Mr. Blass is a fragrance that will be hard to beat for my usages. I would place this one in the $20 price range, and the Bill Blass in the $60 range. Of course, I am not the guy who sells this, so it's just good luck since I can more easily afford Mr. Blass. This one will not be used as much; probably a handful of times a month (but in the colder weather maybe more). Sex Appeal will very soon be getting used a LOT...I'm addicted to the spiciness of that scent. But, as my tastes change, I'm sure I'll love this one just as much. It's a nice herbal fragrance. Good stuff! If anyone knows anything about reformulation within this scent, please do elaborate!
