What's new

Anyone try vintage blades and like em?

I mean..REALLY vintage.1950's and earlier...
I'll never forget I had a friend in the UK send me a great gift with its original Gillette tin box..Gillette 3 piece "Made in England"
I found a pack of 5 blades still in its wrappers 7 O'clock Blades...Made in Sheffield, England stamped on every blade which were litterally dark blue in color...every blade was in mint condition..they had given me sucha smooth and comfortable shave..stiff like an SE blade...got 5 shaves with each blade with 4 passes using each blade...anyways...I looked for days trying to find em again..nope..no more :-(..this was about 2 years ago

I recently picked up a coupla oldies off the bay and got a few 7'o'clock blades in a green paper wrapper thrown in.
Sadly, the blades weren't a patch on my modern Wilkinson Swords.......didn't really expect them to be though.

Guilty as charged, smalltank! I enjoy shaving with the older blue steel blades, when found in good condition. Once you get over the different feel on the first pass, they can leave your skin in very good condition.

I bought 90 Blade Man blades at an antique store. They tug like hell. I'm going to try stropping one soon and see if it gets any better. If not, they're gone.

Hey, I'm just finishing up a 5-pack of those "The Blade Man" blades! The last one goes for shave #4 tonight. I thought they were pretty good, especially in a mild razor like a Tech (and I don't normally like mild razors).

I've only tried them in my 38M. I'll have to give them a spin in my Tech and my Old Type (which so far has performed wonderfully no matter what I feed it.
