What's new

Anyone know who's going to be supplying the new T&H brushes?

Heard recently T&H are switching from Rooney. Am told their brushes will look very similar and be even better quality than previously. I wonder who their replacement will be. Anyone know?

I doubt that anyone here will know the definitive answer to your question. If you fancy dropping T&H an e-mail you may end up with the skinny direct from the horse's mouth.

Now that's interesting to hear. Reliable source? I've been debating another Rooney or a first-time T&H. If T&H is going Simpson or M&F, that's one thing. If China, I'll stick with Rooney.

I wanted to get a 1/2 silvertip from T&H and they were out of stock for the one I wanted so I emailed them to find out when the'd have more, and they wrote back that they were selling out the remainder of their current stock and restocking with another manufacturer who would be supplying sometime toward the end of this quarter. I was disappointed to hear this because I really wanted their Rooney but they said the new brushes would be highest of quality or better, and look very similar - although there was no mention of vendor. Probably keeping that under their hat for the time being so we can only guess. Simpson, Shavemac, Whipped Dog...? (Brian, M&F is Rooney; same folks)

The 1/2 is the same brush I was looking at. I was leaning toward Rooney anyway as I've been happy with the 2 other Rooneys I've gotten from VB. If you get one, let me know how you like it. I've been looking for reviews on it.

I like the T&H version because it's extra stuffed and I like the logo better than Rooney's, but I'll either have to get it in whatever handle color they have left or find a used one. Actually, instead having Rudy Vey make me a custom brush with a handle I currently have. Will keep you posted!

I recently bought a T&H from their US website. Turned out to be a Simpson Emperor 3, fully labeled as such with an additional T&H logo. A hint about the future direction?

:thumbdown not what i wanted to here. this is not good news.

if Simpson can't even get their own QC under control and have knots all over the place in terms or softness, loft and diameter, how are they going to get them right for others?

This is why you buy Simpsons from a store where you can inspect them or from The Superior Shave.

I'm curious to see what T&H does with this. My T&H 1/1 is a great little brush. I doubt they'll find better quality.

true. unfortunately we have no Simpson vendors in Winnipeg  but Superior is always a choice for those wanting one.

i was looking forward to getting a 1/2 in Horn after the Sabbatical and it being a Rooney knot.

i'll have to see how this plays out

Unfortunately, they're out of the horn. I think it was the first to go in the 1/2. I wanted horn also and when I saw they were out of stock, decided to get the white but when I went to order it, it too was out. That's when I emailed and heard the news. Going back and forth on the black now. I wonder what'd going on with Rooney...

I tried to get an answer from the T&H location on Michigan Avenue in Chicago today, but they didn't even know that their current brushes were made by Rooney. Not a lot of help.

The person to whom I spoke was so clueless about everything, I felt like I was shopping at an AoS store.
