Using the DSC S9 razor today. Specs are .86 blade gap, and slight positive exposure
The built quality is very nice, and premium -it's SS 316 after all. The polishing is just superb, better than a lot of razors I have used. The top cap is scalloped (feels very smooth), and is probably inspired by Timeless razors.
I loaded the razor with GWS (blade tabs are fully covered, yay!). I feel the aggression is more than Romer 7 Shivira or Parker 94r, and yet it feels very similar. Those of you who have used Romer 7 Regalia may find the aggression to be similar to it. Comparing this to Rocca, I would say, aggression is similar. Except Rocca is neutral exposure, and this is positive exposure razor. But Rocca does feel smoother to me.

The blade clamping is excellent, and no problem going ATG.

Post shave there was no alum feedback, except on the jawline which subsided very quickly.

Overall, it's a very good buy, and I am quite satisfied. This razor is precisely what I was looking for in terms of practically everything - medium aggression, superb efficiency, and blade exposure

Fair discolusre: I haven't tried the RR GC which inspired this razor, but enough reviews exist which say people who have tried both, find the S9 smoother. I wonder why these are less talked about than the original. Chinese razors are quite nice, even if they are inspired.

I "blame" the slight advantage to the scalloped cap the S9 can have if one wants, they also offer a normal and a 3- and 5-sided version, and of all of them I prefer the scalloped cap.

I tried mixing and matching with my GC 84, the parts are interchangeable. The baseplate of the S9 even has som refinements that allow grabbing the plate from below, weight might also be a bit lower due to these cutouts.

All true. The improvements are all welcome. And it was basis your review/comments that I actually got the Scalloped cap, rather than the 3/5 sides caps. I don't have the original GC, but seeing that as I like this one so much, I don't even want to have it. A friend has the original GC, and the Romer 7 Regalia razor I had mentioned in my review. Seems like he liked the Regalia more, I have another razor by the same manufacturer viz Shivira - I like that a lot too, more than most of my CNC milled SS and brass razors. And in India, Shivira costs like literally 10USD including shipping to pan India. DSC S9 is only slightly milder than Shivira, and exactly as aggressive as Regalia CC. For me, the likeness of the Romer razors being fulfilled in CNC by a chinese clone (doesn't matter if these were not the designs, they were copying) is a godsend.

For baseline reference to Shivira, it's as aggressive as Praker 94r with slightly better efficiency

For reference, Romer 7 is an Indian OEM. They used to make razors for Parker a while back. More recently, their OC razor is being resold by HC&C as Van Winkle, and Global Shave Club already sells the R41 tribute

Took the S9 out for a spin with a Feather blade and the Crown handle and I have to say it's not a bad shave at all. It really prefers a shallow angle and it's just smooth and deceptively efficient. Always nice to go back to a razor you didn't make the best first impression and surprises you. It's like I bought a new razor!

very true. The S9 is one of those razors which feels as if it's full of surprises. The shallow angle makes it very user friendly, and its quite efficient with sharp blades
