What's new

Anyone else use their creams/soaps seasonally?

So I am still relatively new to this having been at the DE shaving since November of last year. I really had thought I had settled on MWF being my soap of choice with some Prairie Creations and Tabac thrown in to liven things up every now and then. However, with the first taste of Texas summer the last couple weeks, I decided to give my old tube of Proraso a try. Wow! That menthol cooling is just awesome for these warm humid mornings. I still love my tallow soaps but I think I may stay with the Proraso for the next few months during what will certainly be another record breaking summer. Do any of you rotate your soaps and creams with the seasons like this?

I live in NC, and it gets HOT and humid here - we've already had a few days up into the low 90's. Summer for me is all about menthol: Proraso and Godrej Menthol Mist, with the occaisional citrus or lime cream thrown in for variety. When the weather turns cold, I prefer scents like sandalwood (Vulfix) and bay rum (Ogallala, in all their glorious varieties), and traditional barbershop scents like Godrej Deluxe Lather/Rich Foam. So, to answer your question: I definitely change my soap/cream rotations with the seasons - just as I do with my AS's and colognes. About the only constants throughout the year are witch hazel and my trusty alum block.

That said, for years all I used year-round was Crabtree & Evelyn Sweet Almond Oil shave cream... so I guess I can see both sides... Either that or my SC/SSAD has recently kicked in!
