What's new

Anybody been disappointed..

in some of the products that they picked up?
Not that the product is trash, but just sort of let down?

Unfortunately, for me, it's been Burt's Bees every time.
The lip balm, the shave cream, the face wash, the face scrub..
The deodorant didn't let me down, but it didn't wow me either.

PS.. I wasn't 100% positive it should go here, but it has to do with hair, skin and body care.

PPS.. if anyone's been pleasantly surprised by a product please feel free to divulge.

I find myself generally pleasently surprised at how much I like most shaving-type products.

I guess I have been disappointed in most tequilas I have ever bought.

I love the smell of Nag Champa incense, but the soap the same Sai Baba folks make seems to smell awful to me. Mysore and Chan(whatever the rest of the name of that brand is) are absolutely wonderful.

I used a Tweezerman badger brush for a very long time and was really happy with it. I was really unhappy with the one I bought my younger son, which really, really smelled bad in a very off-putting way, and probably discouraged him forever from using soap/cream and and brush, rather than canned goo.

I like Marvis toothpaste fine, I guess, but not at the price.

I bought some stuff labelled Florida Water at a Chinese store that was untterly lame. A verey weak floral and essentialy useless. However, I also bought a bottle of another Chinese "Florida Water" (Keishan (?), something like that, which turned out to be nothing like Murray & L Florida Water, but to be highly mentholated and something like Osage Rub. That on is wonderful. I really like it more than Osage Rub.

I agree about some the Burt's stuff. There is one lip balm I like, but there's another one that turned my lips pink (like lipstick). I don't like their shave cream or their aftershave. Seems too greasy for me. And I don't care for patchouli.

They have a hand salve, which I like, but again sort of greasy feeling. I prefer corn huskers lotion to it.

I've found myself to have grown found of Kiss My Face's line.
I'm still on the fence about whether to use their lotion as a facial lotion though. Any help here?
But I just bought a face scrub from them and it's the ****.
It cleanses subtly, not like you're bathing in menthol, yet it's still refreshing.
The only product that I didn't get along with was their Mint Shave Cream, but that's because I have a reaction to anything mint it seems.

I was disappointed in the Trueffit & Hill's Lavendar Aftershave. I find that The Art of Shaving's Lavendar aftershave does a much better job for my skin. I felt like T&H just sorta sat on my face.

Speaking of AoS, I'm thoroughly impressed with many of their product. Their travel brush is still holding up rather nicely. I love their lavendar line of shaving products. I might venture to the lemon, but I have a whole jar of lavendar to still go through. Plus it's rather cheap compared to other products.

I also enjoyed Anthony Logistics Shave Cream for those of you that find yourself needing a quick fix for menthol type shave cream.

I was disappointed in some of the single-malts I just purchased. I had high hopes it seems.

You win some, you lose some.

I dont mind the Burt's Bees lipbalm (the peppermint one). Have not had a good experience with the rest of their products. Also I don't really like C+E products either.

I have got to learn how to use mutliquote!

3am Shadow, which single malts have been disappointed in? Maybe you will save me some disappointment.

Do you find yourself bored with Scotch and/or whisky/whiskey in general? I think I am. My "tasting" background is in wines and I do not ever remember the any feeling of being bored with wines. Of course, there is a lot of disppointment to be had in wines!

I am not bored with tequila, but I am feeling ticked off about quality variation in certain brands, maybe all brands.

C&E Sienna and T&H Luxury Shaving soap both left my face feeling overly dry. I've sold some other soaps, but more because I didn't like their scents vs. how they performed.

Speyburn and one other I
just picked up.
It's supposed to be paired with a cigar (your favorite of course)
I had never seen it so I thought why not?
Speyburn just was .. Flat. Didn't do anything
The cigar one didn't have a great initial flavor
The after taste was pretty good though

Any mint skincare products screw me over lol
