Any UK members have much luck buying Gillettes?

Other than the odd rusty Gillette Tech in the local Antique Shop (usually way overpriced, regardless of condition), I've never really been able to get hold of any Gillettes. Could always buy on the bay, but spending £30 on shipping for a £10 razor is out of the question.

I'm green with envy when I see these chaps in 'The Score' posting their collections of mint condition Gillettes they found for $2.

Just looking for some shopping hints I guess...:thumbup1:

I've been pretty lucky with ebay. Two British Techs and a cased Old Type with ball end handle...each for under £5 plus UK postage

in a word, no, ive found a few techs at carboots, but mostly the razors tend to be rusted straights, rolls or ever readys, ive got most of mine from here or on ebay, sometimes buying as a lot from america is significantly better even if you only want a couple you can usually make your money back by selling them cheapish (fast) on ebay uk.

There are some out there but there were never as many razors made in the UK as there were in the USA.
I have got some old UK Gillettes ...but I've bought most of them on ebay. Some of them were from UK sellers so there are some out there. Good luck.

Oh, and yes, I have bought razors from the states in "lots" as well. This makes them seem more reasonable though I do now have quite a number of superspeeds....

You rarely see a post saying they scored an average or over priced razor do you? Just like a gambler never tells you about his overall spend and only his wins.

You have to be vigilant and "search" in odd places, I've scored a few razors cheaply and also over paid on a few, they are there in the UK. Whether you find a mint Fatboy in the UK for a couple of quid is another matter.
