What's new

Any stainless steel heads with the same geometry as Maggard V3A ?

Given that V3A is most likely a Chinese design adapted for Maggard, I wonder if there's a stainless steel version out there with the same geometry,

I am aware of Yintal Brass (and actually own one, although I lost the top cap). But I believe the base plate is Zamak.

I don't know if the geometry is similar or not, but Maggard does sell a stainless steel head for I believe < $50.

I know, but it's not the same razor head.

lI love V3A because it's both very efficient and very forgiving. I think it's the combination of how it clamps the blade, exposure, and scalloped safety bar. I've never had a bad shave with it. The Yintal version is exactly the same.

Thanks for the info.

The good news is that if you like the V3A head you can order several of them for a pretty inexpensive price and have backups if you like.

I know and own 4.
Maggard V3A.
Yaqi Cobbled
WEISHI (Models RAZOR-A, RAZOR-B, RAZOR-C, RAZOR-D, RAZOR-E.) Also sold as Yintal
Razorock Mentor.

They are all different.
The Maggard V3A is the mildest. Then it is the Yaqi. Mentor is similar to Yaqi but a hair more aggressive.
The Weishis are very aggressive. If you do not like aggressive razors avoid them.

Bumping an old thread but a similar head would be Roman Empire Ceaser. Very mild though maybe because of the blade gap? I will take pics of the head. Might be made by the same Chinese factory. The Maggard is more efficient and smoother IMHO.

Many companies in China will make a certain design. Their heads will not be the same. In this case I believe a few other companies copied the Weishi design. But as I said their heads are less aggressive to a different degree.

The Futur imitation is not only Ming Shi, at least two other companies make similar imitations. The River Lake brand is terrible, starts flaking after a few shaves.

At a glance, the Edwin Jagger 3One6 has the head design of the Maggard. It is more accurate to say the Maggard has the top cap and base plate design of the 89.

The 3One6 is stainless, and if memory serves, users considered it a mild shaver, just like the 89.

QShaves Future clone is really not that bad. Some blade chatter on the most aggressive setting but other than that, it's not a bad razor. While I have you Ivan, your opinion on the Baili BD191?

The 3one6 is definitely more aggressive than the 89.

I have many Bailis. Let me check which one was the 191....

Nope. Don't have that one. And will never buy it.

I do not have a Qshave. But I have at least 7 Ming Shi 2000S. It is an excellent razor. Shaves similar to Futur, but not exactly the same. I only use it @6. :c1:

Yes. Definitely. Not for everyone.

I got my BD191 from Stirling. Says it is adjustable but there is only + and - setting. Supposedly it was a rebranded Razorock model.

I believe there is some misunderstanding. The Internet search results show this razor as Baili BD191.

This is Baili's official store.

That adjustable on Sterling's site is custom made by Baili (who knows for which company). It is in no way a razor manufactured by Razorock. The guard is the typical guard made by Baili.

From what I was told, this is the exact same razor that Razorock offered that was made from Baili.
Yes, I have just found it. They made it for Razorock. Called Razorock Adjust on the Italian Barber site. 15 bucks in the West is a ridiculously small price. When people see it is also adjustable, they will bite the bait. :c1:

It's a interesting razor... First, not really adjustable in terms of increments. Only + or -. But it does deliver a great shave. Great design and hides the tabs. Incredibly comfortable under the nose. Getting used to the long Handle is the learning curve..

I have the RazoRock Adjust. It’s rubbish. It has unequal blade exposure and blade gap. Ironically, the non-adjustable cousin, the Baili 179, is one of my favorite razors. Perfect alignment and gap.
