Antique store find.they are still out there folks!

Hey everyone. The hunt has been quite fruitless for me recently so I was thoroughly tickled to find this little fellow this afternoon after picking up my wife at her doctor's appointment. The store owner said she picked it up at an estate sale. Clarke's was a local drug store that closed down in the late 60's to early 70's. I was quite stunned to find something like this in an antique store. But it just goes to show, don't give up folks. There are still goodies to be found out there!

Incidentally, I noticed the factory price tag is $1.50. I have noticed prices changed a good bit on the Slim through the 1960's.

Can anybody nail the year just by looking at the price tag?! :biggrin1:

I am so jealous right now.

also if you don't mind me asking, which you might..........how much did you pay for it?

Right. It's a K4 (1965). I was able to find the letter through the packaging with the help of a magnifying glass.

Amish, I seem to remember reading somewhere that Gillette did market this model as the 'Slim Adjustable'. All Gillette models were given names of some kind. Even the Fatboy was marketed as the '195 Adjustable'.

Funny you ask that. Just 10 minutes ago my teen-aged daughter asked me the same thing (she knows how much I love my razors). I told her I will break it open and shave with it when I make my first million. LOL!

nice! gives you some incentive to make a million!

I found a Life Magazine ad on Google Books that references the "Slim Adjustable"...but just the one. No others.

It was definitely marketed as the Slim Adjustable. Here's a print block I have from a newspaper ad (flipped for legibility, of course):

I think I might actually faint from shock if I were to encounter a NOS Slim. (As opposed to a Fat Boy or a Red Ring, in which case I just might suffer a heart attack!) In any case, I'm stunned by this score.
