What's new

Another ID thread: What is this thing?

Picked this up w/ some Gems at an antique store the other day. Any ideas or origins?

Thanks all for any help!

This is the part where we usually say "That should shine up nicely!".

I'm not sure that it will. :frown:

Are there any markings on it that might indicate a company or a country of origin?

Heck, just in the U.S., there were a large number of razor companies over the years. So anything else might help narrow it down.

I tend to lean toward eastern block Europe also. American made products were all stressing "Made In USA" in the era that would have been produced.

That was my guess as well - Eastern Bloc cast pour. No markings/letters anywhere.
And yes, that is its shined up form. It was worse

Thanks all!

Hello. This is my first post, but I've been lurking for the last month. This is a great forum. I've been wetshaving since I started shaving but took a thirty year hiatus from a DE. I started back about 3 weeks ago and got BAD, RAD, and SCAD right off the bat. I've since acquired 7 DE razors, a sample pack of blades, 4 brushes, 3 vintage brush handles, 3 shaving soaps and 4 shaving creams .

Anyway, as applicable to this thread I picked up this razor as part of a 3 razor lot that included a NEW that I really wanted. It seems similar to the one that's shown. It's unplated zinc and very light. I tried it once and it's a mild shaver, but doesn't feel good. It does have a logo on the top plate and maybe that will help identify it.

Yep that's a British broad arrow military issue razor 1943, they used to come with a big zinc soap dish as well when first issued to recruits / part of slop bags
