What's new

Alright, who got the Double Ring?

I thought that I had cleverly found this little gem all for myself. Alas, no:

Is that a gold Double Ring? Or just a severely brassed silver one?

I bid early and knew that it would be beyond my range so, I watched it go up. Good eye friend!

I have a good eye and I'm persistent but I'm also cheap. That doesn't work well on the 'bay with regard to vintage razors especially a rare Double Ring.

It was me. The price did take off at the end but I was lucky enough to win it.

Nice snag! Could you post some up close pics when you receive it? I'd still like to know if it's severely brassed or something else.

as far as i know double rings were only done in silver, that looks like the silver is all gone and the base metal is showing, if you do a replate you should do a silver plate for sure, but otherwise it looks in great shape, good pick up

drocu thats awesome ive only ever seen the silver ones

stan is that razor for you, or is going up on above the tie in coming months ?

Watched it hard at $35 all evening after I just learned to tell the differencebetween a single and double ring today, haha! Thought I'd hit the jackpot on day #1 :)

Good score! If you ever tire of it, the B/S/T would love it....

Stan, I'd be very interested in knowing what year it is from when you get it, just as a curiosity. I'd watched it for several days, like others, hoped not many had it spotted. When the lot went past $35, I was pretty sure it'd been spotted. Was going to bid late, but realized it would outstrip my budget for it (3 from 1905 in the den already, I wasn't highly motivated, but would love to fine an example from '04, '03 or even '06).

Best of luck finding a case for it, it could happen. I actually found an incorrect razor in a Double Ring style case and bought it on eBay, then found the uncased Double Ring to match it just 2 or 3 weeks later!

I put a bid in too at the last second, but it was not to be. Congrats, Stan!

I am also realizing that everybody sees everything on ebay. The days of a magical razor hiding out in a nondescript lot are gone. Are we all nuts that we will spend all of this time squinting at pictures looking for the diamond hidden among the cubic zirconia? I think we are suffering a mental disorder:blink:.
