What's new

all i can say is.DAMMIT !

I had sent a Fatboy across the pond for replating. I dis-assembled it, and asked that it receive a Black Rhodium plate. Needless to say, it came back GLEAMING! Not a mark on it, well packaged, great job all in all.

I took it to the office, to show it off before reassembling it, and I couldn't wait to get home and get it back together.
Well this night just took a turn downward. My new trophy was going back together flawlessly and then "it" happened. While press fitting the last piece's in, I over did it with the pressure and bent the :censored: out of it.....

My heart sunk. Do you ever wish you could take back a second or two in time. Well needless to say, I have some beautiful spare parts I might put up on the BST.

one of the piece's was a bit off kilter and wasn't going in the way it should. what should normally have been a nice little "pop" wasn't there. then instead of stopping & seeing what was wrong, i just tied into it with a bit more pressure. when it finally did "pop" it was too late. all bent out of shape & too late on my part. just wasn't paying attention!

i should post photo's of what i wrecked. when i tried that i chipped some of the new plating. It was at this point i was just wanting to free it up. did that work? NOPE! when i break something, it stays broke........:thumbdown

What particular part broke? If a part is bent, it can usually be bent back, that's the great thing about brass.

Ouch...that hurts.

the plating on this razor was very beautiful, nice to see it all disassembled and the parts all fully chromed.

I feel for you Tim.....I'll buy you a cheese sandwich tomorrow to cheer you up...but serious, that is a real bummer. I know how excited you were to have this one done and in your den

Where's Alex? Is it salvageable?

I would just buy another one for parts.....i just finished fixing a Rhodium Toggle for a valued B&B member this past weekend, However, i was able to get it adjusting with out taking it apart. Those really are hard to replace at $200 bucks average.
