Affordable Sleeping bags?

Hello gentlemen,

I know this probably isn't what you guys deal with, but I need some help.

I'm a college student leading a homeless ministry, and I'm just wondering if you could give me some recommendations as to affordable sleeping bags, and where to get them. Up to this point, I've been buying sleeping bags from www.woot.com when they go on sale, however, it's been a while since I've seen them last. I've been lurking on this site, and bought my first little wet shaving set (VDH soap+brush from walmart, Gillette tech, blade sampler), before I stumbled across this section of the forum.

Ideally, the price range would be 20-30 dollars. I'd love to be giving out more high quality ones, but that also means I'd be handing out less :[

Thank you for your time,
-Henry

The problem is that I'm seeking to do this consistently; thrift stores are great (they really are) for finding individual things, but I've been ordering sleeping bags 10-20 at a time. I've seen the cheap ones at wal-mart and they're not durable at all. I was hoping there was some obscure place to get them that I haven't thought of.

REI would likely be a bit higher-end than you're shooting for. I'd go with the Campmor suggestion, or even contact the manufacturers directly. Coleman and Slumberjack make economically priced bags that perform nicely and would likely have some sort of bulk/corporate pricing that they might be able to help you with (if not actually provide a number of bags).

If you have an REI near you, go to their garage sale. I got a 15 degree down bag for 11 bucks.

Not a bad suggestion, but this depends on the area. Here in Virginia, we're not legally allowed to sell used bedding (including sleeping bags.) As a result, you won't find a single sleeping bag in the garage sales here.

WWWOOOWWWW. Who is the big nanny in your state?
a assume this means sheets, pillowcases, quilts, comforters.
any blue laws there still holding on?

Oh where was I, on u tube there are a couple of video on making a sleeping bag shell using tyvex, probably not a good item for giving away, but would extend the life of a sleeping bag.
