What's new

Aedes De Venustas

Made the trek down their on this slushy Saturday to also check out the Bathroom and C.O. Bigelow. Wound up getting a bottle of the Pinaud Vanilla aftershave from C.O and some soaps from The Bathroom. But what I'm really excited about, is in this bag.....

Stay tuned for a video in the coming weeks, but I do have to say I prefer the staff at Barney's than I do to those at Aedes. I get a friendlier vibe from them. At the end of the day, I guess it really doesn't matter. I live a stone's throw from Barney's, so I do like to switch it up sometimes. And I love having lunch in the West Village. Täim, A Salt and Battery. Make sure you guys check out the NYC food thread that I started in the Mess Hall forum.

Max.

Yeah, I didn't get a great vibe from Aedes, either. Kind of like they were deigning to speak with me. I'd much rather go to Barneys or Min or Pasteur, where the people are friendly.

Got to agree with you. And because I knew I was going there, I threw on my Prada America's Cup Boat Shoes, Dior Denim, Burberry Toggle Coat and Scarf and went in wearing Xerjoff. I thought it might make them perk up and defrost. Negative. The people at MiN are the best, IMO.

I would like to go to MinNY and Aedes next time I'm in NYC, in addition to the dept stores (Bergdorf specifically) and brand-specific boutiques (Creed/Bond/Dior Homme) mentioned in the others threads.

I second that! I'm planning a trip Stateside again this year, and I'm planning a week in NYC (4 nights wasn't long enough last time) and I'm going to spend up big on the frags. Another Chanel Exclusif is on the cards, I think. Most likely Coromandel....or a backup Sycomore :)

For the sake of fairness I do want to report that I was in Aedes again recently, and this time the guy I dealt with was much friendlier and more helpful.

That's the place on Christopher St., right? I've only walked past it -- never gone in. Sounds like I don't really need to, either.

Different vibe & different intentions, but do you guys know a store on W. 13th St. called Enfleurage? Very cool place, especially if you're interested in essential oils & other natural aromatics. And the folks there couldn't be nicer.
