Adventurous shave...

After reading a thread the other day about going ATG on the 1st pass I decided to give it a try last night. I go ATG straight off the bat when shaving my head without any issues so thought why not try the face / neck in the same manor.

Cheeks & chin area were great and really smooth but I did get a weeper or two on the neck area with just a bit of a rough patch round the lower neck / adams apple (usually the most sensitive area).
I didn't fancy doing a 2nd ATG pass in this area as I didn't want to further irritate it so I decided to try a WTG J-Hook stroke....(check me out lol)

One word - AWESOME!!! Never had the neck area so smooth before! Needless to say I will be adopting the J-Hook manoeuvre in future.

I have a couple of spots on my neck where my beard grows in crazy whorls. J-hooking seems to clean it up better than anything else.

J-hook refers to the shape you with with the razor as you glide it over your face. Start off with the straight forward WTG stroke but turn the razor whilst the blade is still in contact with the skin and finish up in the opposite direction to where you started.

Sweet potato....!

That video looks dangerous!

If you don`t hear from me within a week consider me cruisin` with Jesus.

I've dabbled with the j-hook a couple times in the past. Today, though, I just couldn't get as smooth as I wanted below the jawline, so I went ahead and did a full j-hook pass (under the jaw) and it worked great. I got just about the closest ever on my neck, without any added irritation or cuts. Very helpful technique that I'll use more.

I find it very difficult to do.
Perhaps it`s just my muscles that need to learn the move in order to do it effortlessly.
