Adding Glycerine To Cream

I have read several posts suggesting adding glycerine to shave cream. What is the benefit? How much should I add? I face lather, first putting the cream (Bigelow or KMF) on the brush and lathering on the face. How would I do it with Glycerine?

Just a drop or two does the trick. I would just put it in my hand and pick it up with the brush.
Try Aloe also, it makes a nicer, slicker potion.
Brent.

If you face lather just add a few drops to the brush or if you bowl lather add a few drops to the bowl. For me it makes it easier to lather with hard water also it makes it much slicker.

Having never heard of it wetshaving pre B&B then I heard about it and sounded great. I tried it quite a few times after I shortly joined and wasn't impressed nor was I disappointed. There's tons of lather but in my humble opinion it is still the same lather just lots more.

Give it a whirl you may like it but doubt you'll dislike it just may not care for it.

Another hard water latherer here. I thought I could make a pretty good lather before trying the glycerin trick. However, adding a couple of drops makes the lather explode in my bowl.

I am a uberlather fan and find that the glycerin provides a rich lather that lubricates more. I have been doing it for several months now and would never go back.

I add a few drops of glycerin to my The Bomb and a smudge of Cremo Creme.

It makes things slick and I am in the no nick or cut mode.

I am totally a bowl latherer, so cannot comment on the face lathering.

Glycerin is a humectant and absorbs moisture from the environment. Most cremes have quite a bit of it in them, but it depends on the creme. 2-3 drops is all you need. You want to make sure that your face and the lather are moist (not wet)...this will allow Glycerin to absorb that moisture and keep it at the skin level rather than letting it evaporate.
