That growing shape on the horizon is freaking Christmas. Less than two weeks to go. Let's see those pre-holiday splurges.

Gots me a cherry Red and Black set:

Got a Star SE for $8. Had some gunk on the handle, but it a little soak in Goo Gone took care of that! And I got a generous sample of Pen's Castile shave cream from a B&Ber!

Just scored a winning bid on theBay - a neat looking Gem for $14 incl. shipping. My first true razor acquision. My mom found a me a couple of ratty Techs at an estate sale a couple of months ago, and thus began my journey. Looking forward to trying out some SE action:

My RAD has really rekindled in the past week. I had not used ebay in so long that I had forgotten my password and username. At any rate, I JUST WON MY FIRST BRITISH #21!!!! :w00t:

vintage Plisson from dbay -

I believe this is one of Plisson's "budget" models - the handle is apparently hollow plastic. The knot is quite nice - soft & quite dense, on the floppy side. I'll likely give it a shot tomorrow. It is distinctive anyway for the handle.

details:
20mm diameter knot
52 mm loft
handle 45mm high, 40mm diameter at base

also received today a nice clean blue-black handle Schick injector w/ blades (thanks, Jack-in-the-Green; thanks B&B)

...and from Jim:

I spent the morning antiquing in Hastings, MN and came away with this haul. And this was with one antique store closed! I also passed on a khaki set in rough condition, a Gem with a broken Bakelite box, a couple of Valet Autostrops, a Schick Injector, and something else that I don't remember at the moment. Plus a bunch of straights, since I don't know enough about them to know what's good and what isn't. One fellow offered me all 5 of the straights in his case for $20. If any of you other Minnesotans know your straights, it might be worth a trip to Hastings for you. Anyway, PICS:

I don't know if I got taken at $20 for this razor, given the blade is chipped and the back side of the scales cracked. But it was so purty! :001_wub: If it's rescue-able maybe I'll have it restored one day and give straight shaving a try. (Must ... resist ... SRAD!)

You should probably ask one of the restoration experts, but I think they could do something about it. It has some pretty funky hone wear, but then again I've seen Glen* has done work on some razors with insaaane hone wear before.

*g-something something- gun. Can't remember his username
