A reeaallly expensive Super Adjustable . . .

Umm, it appears to be in very good shape and someone wanted it really bad. Some of these guys want a "birth razor" in great shape at any cost. My guess.

Yeah, and I have no issues. They pay what they pay. I just wondered if there was a "variant" out there that I wasn't aware of that was in high demand (i.e. something quirky like "Q1" instead of "R2, R3, R4" for date coding in the year they "skipped" "Q."

That is just a really, really nice ad. It does everything right: lots of high resolution photos with close-ups; detailed description of the product, including minor flaws; inexpensive shipping costs; and a 100% feedback rating with testimonials.

This could be the classroom model of how to create an auction ad. It gives the consumer total confidence that he's going to get exactly what's shown and described. And to many people, that's worth a few extra dollars.

Now, for you WS experts of B&B, you might be able to spot a diamond in the rough, so the cosmetics of the ad won't matter much. But for someone just getting into it, or picking up a gift for someone else (dad, for Christmas?), a well crafted page like this can make all the difference.

I have the same exact super in prob the same condition. Maybe if I show this to the wife she'll believe my "investment collection" defense.

It appears to be missing some paint inside the numbers. Specifically, the 1 setting. I wouldn't have paid anywhere near that for one with less than perfect numbers.

Nice razor, nice description, but most of all it had what every auction needs to get top dollar....two or more really engaged parties.

Dang, I got me an R1 SA in slightly worse (but still very good) condition that I've been thinking of selling... gotta get me some photography skills...

I have a client who doesn't have Pay Pal so I said I procure a long handle Super Adjustable for him.
I started by putting everyone I found on my watch list, in less then 2 week I was able to score one in Very Good condition for under $20 including S&H.
On e-bay you can over pay if you want to or you can be patient and get what you want for a good price.

+1

I was watching two NOS Super Adjustables this past week. Both went for less than this used one!!

I have too think this is just two silly buyers getting caught up in a bidding war. :001_rolle:001_rolle

Maybe it's just lighting, but there appears to be some brassing of the safety bars, and the adjustment plate as well.

Edit: it's not just lighting, seller says the following:

The head is clean inside and out. There is light paint wear on some numbers, mostly 1 & 9, and a few small spots of plating wear at the head. No serious flaws and no corrosion present. The paint and plating, overall, looks 97-98% intact.

Good Gravy! 28 bidders/bids. I agree with Alanl, the photography is excellent, makes my razors look like junk.
Too high, way too high price though.

V2, so april-may-june 1975, yea lots of people in that age group have reached a level of success about now that a birth razor would be a big deal, and affording it not a problem. Especially a nice one. A W4 in that condition would make me overbid a little, probably not that much though.
