A Find This Morning

My better half cleaned our bathroom cupboard this weekend and found a wrapped partial puck of shaving soap, she placed it with my modest selection of softgoods and I came across it this morning. The scent is quite faint as it has probably been sitting wrapped up in brown wax paper for at least a few years, so after my shave this morning curiosity got the best of me and I gave it a quick lather. The lather gave it away immediately - Crabtree and Evelyn Sweet Almond - one of the first soaps I bought several years ago at the C&E clearance store - I think I bought a couple of pucks for very little and went back for more only to find that they had sold out of the discontinued item.

I will give it a whirl tomorrow, a fun find for sure.

Like finding a $10 bill stashed in an old coat pocket you haven't worn in years. Woohoo! It's like "free" money.

Well it lathered up fine, scent was a little muted which is not surprising after sitting out for probably four years, it shaved pretty much like any other good quality soap. C&E Sweet Almond Oil Soap obviously disappeared before it could be appreciated by the new movement that wet shaving has enjoyed the past years. I think if it was still around it may have been quite a popular item.

A fun find that I will put back in the drawer for another day.
